Sometimes you have a need for more than just a simple rug. You want a rug that will cover an entire area of your floor space while still adding texture, color, and comfort to your space. You need an area rug that will both compliment your space, add a comfortable floor covering, while also providing a stylish plus to your overall design.
Area rugs come in all shapes and sized. You can get custom shaped rugs, round area rugs, and just about anything else you’re willing to pay for.
The most common size of area rugs are 8×10 rugs. Eight feet wide and ten feet long. These 8×10 area rugs provide comfortable distancing between the furniture and are large enough to provide a space within a space. You don’t want your area rug to completely cover the floor, especially if you have a nie wooden, tile, or laminate flooring.
You need your area rug to compliment the flooring as well. Having a rug that is too big takes away from the stylish flooring underneath and makes your floor plan seem cluttered. You have to give your space room to breathe.
Your area rug should be large enough to create a focus space while leaving the rest of the room to it’s own.
For instance, take an area rug and place it between a sitting space. You want room for the furniture to be placed well enough apart while still feeling connected. In open floor plans an area rug is essential. It provides a closed off space by simply giving the space a border on the floor.
If you’re having problems with a large room feeling cavernous and cold, put your furniture around a area rug and you have provided a cozy spot in the middle of the openness. Check out some of these 8×10 area rugs we have found on Amazon.com. And of course, we start with a Chevron Rug.
A chevron rug may seem like something fresh that would only work with newer interior design styles, but chevron can also be done in a regal style. With the right colors and accessories, a chevron rug can blend perfectly into a traditional or regal style home.
Unfortunately, I encountered a few set backs with my project.. so hopefully the pics will be up tomorrow (it should be complete!) Until then, check out the awesome DIY chevron rug tutorial at Hayley Anderson Photography here.
I might have to try this out soon… I can’t decide if I want the curtains in this print or the rug…. ahhh… =) I also love the clean, white entry way. Beautiful!
